Site submissions

The call for sites is currently closed for site submissions and we are not inviting the submission of sites as part of the scoping consultation. There will be further opportunities to submit sites and update information about existing submissions as the new local plan progresses.

A new local plan for Cheshire East is being prepared and this will consider the development needs of the borough into the 2040s. A call for sites is normally undertaken as part of the plan making process and it invites landowners, developers, and other interested parties to suggest land for potential housing, employment, minerals or waste uses for inclusion in the Cheshire East New Local Plan to meet the future development needs of the area. 

Important: The call for sites process is separate to the planning application process. The submission of a site to the council does not necessarily mean that it will be included in the new local plan or brought forward via a planning application.

Sites will be assessed in line with relevant planning policy guidance for their suitability, availability and achievability for the uses proposed. Ultimately, decisions about which sites will or will not be taken forward will be made as part of the new local plan. It is likely that many sites will not be taken forward, and more sites could be submitted than are needed. Any sites that are proposed for inclusion in the new local plan will be subject to public consultation at key stages of the plan-making process. This can take several years and involves independent examination by a planning inspector.
